A Dance with the Willow (Big Sur)
One afternoon while hiking around Big Sur I followed a creek toward the sound of the ocean. The shimmering water was surrounded by tall trees, and it was at least 20 degrees cooler under their canopy. There were butterflies and moths and tiny insects everywhere. Eventually I came to a sunny meadow, and a big patch of willows was buzzing with bees. I took some photographs with my macro lens, and later I used those as reference photos to bring this beautiful memory to life again.
This is an original acrylic painting and the second of four in my “mini memories” series. The painting itself is 1 ¼ x 2 inches , the whole paper is 2x2 ¾ in.
