Life Upon a Prickly Pear Cactus (Laguna Beach, CA)
There is something so magical about the plants that grow along the sea shore. In southern california these colorful blooms seem even more magical. When I first came to Laguna Beach this spring I was mesmerized by all the tiny textures, details, and life forms that exist together by the ocean. The Prickly Pear cactus blooms were attracting all sorts of little insects, and the flowers themselves appeared so beautifully silky and vibrant against the blackdrop of ocean blues. I have spent many hours walking the shoreline and studying the tiny details here, usually with my macro camera in hand. This painting is one of my largest ones so far. It features the connection of life forms here, specifically among insects, spiders, and plants. The micro details in the wispy spider webs of this painting have to be seen in person to truly see. I used my own reference photo for its creation and poured my love for this coastal town into it.
Size is 16 x 20 inches. Original acrylic painting on canvas. Will be signed on the bottom right!
Option to put a hand made wooden frame around the canvas (keeping an open face) for an additional cost. Please contact me if this is something you want!
Note: My art is created with inspiration from my travels, and most of the time I use my own photographs as reference photos. If there is a location in the title of a piece that means it was created based on a moment in that place. I like to find inspiration and take photographs while traveling, and then when I get back home to my studio I reflect on my experiences and take my time painting:) Oftentimes I create videos that showcase the memories, the painting, and the reflection all woven together. Here is a link to my Youtube Channel if you want to watch my life stories unfold.
