The forest floor is often covered in moody greens of moss and leaves and lichen, but every once in a while I stumble upon a beautiful mushroom. Mushrooms are not only pretty to look at, but they are actually essential for a healthy forest. They help to break down organic matter and deliver nutrients back to the soil. While you might think their beauty is in the often colorful “fruit” you see, I believe their beauty is more in their function and the connection that they have with all the living things around them. This painting is inspired by the mushrooms I would see hiking the forests in my home state of Minnesota.
This is a 5 x 6 inch signed original acrylic painting on a wooden panel. I created this with nature and the environment in mind. The wood was sourced from someone's leftover pieces of a project and I gave it a second life.
